After many months of dreaming of this young stallion, I decided to make him mine. Now, after six years, I do not regret that decision for one minute. Deco has already exceeded my biggest expectations.
It was a dream come true to win the Campeon De La Raza at the 2008 Fiesta Midwest Spanish Horse Show and several other classes. Deco has already become a very special horse to me. He is very easy going and a pleasure to be around. He is being trained by Grand Prix rider Nicole Harrington. Nicole and Deco are a winning team. In only a few months, Deco advanced drastically in his Dressage work. His work ethics are outstanding. He is very willing and learns fast. He is not only beautiful but also excels under saddle.
Deco was bred by Sherry Martin of Aubrey, TX. Sherry imported several outstanding mares from Spain. Umong them was Mariposa XVI, Deco's dam. Mariposa is a very impressive 16.2 h mare of true Spanish type. Mariposa was the 2004 National Champion Pure Spanish mare. Her movement is outstanding, her conformation correct and her appearance breathtaking. What a powerful, beautiful mare! What better decision than to breed her to one of the most important stallions in the USA. Granadino XI, also owned by the Denham Ranch, is the son of one of Spain's most famous horses "Leviton"! Leviton was the number one ranked stallion from the Yeguada Militar, producing more Champions than any other horse. I feel honored to own a son of Granadino and a Grandson of Leviton. I am sure Deco will continue in his forefathers footsteps.
Deco has already had a big show career. As a yearling he won his halter classes at the ERAHC show, as a two year old he again won his Halter classes and was even awarded with the ERAHC Reserve Grand Champion Stallion titel. In 2005 he amazed everybody. Not only did he win his halter class again, but was chosen to be the new 2005 ERAHC Grand Champion Stallion. Not bad for a 3 year old!
News flash! At his first 2007 Dressage show he won three out of four Training Level classes against Warmbloods. With scores in the mid to upper 60's. He received very nice comments from all of the judges. At the August 2007 ERAHC show Deco was chosen to be the Champion Andalusian Stallion and Champion Pure Spanish Stallion! He also won a Training Level Dressage class again. Our Spanish judge said " Very nice horse that could go all the way!" Deco is already the proud sire of 6 foals. We are expecting two P.R.E. foals and two Partbred foals from Deco in 2008. Deco's 2008 book is filling up fast and we have only 2 more spots available.
